Licking River Kennel Club
To maintain high standards both as a working and social club, the following principles have been established and are to be adhered to by all existing and new members. Failure to do so may result in expulsion from the club in accordance with provisions as provided in the constitution.
• That all dogs in our care will receive an adequate and nutritious diet, clean water, clean comfortable living conditions, human companionship, training in appropriate behavior and regular veterinary care.
• Not to keep dogs in circumstances or numbers where all needs cannot be adequately fulfilled.
• To honestly present and evaluate our puppies or adults to the public, agreeing to place only those with no known defects that will interfere with their ability to perform and function as a pet and companion or competitor, or clearly outline to the potential pet buyer the defects that may exist.
• To keep accurate records of the health history, medications and vaccinations of each individual dog in our care. To maintain accurate pedigrees reflecting the ancestry of all our dogs and to place any dog from our breeding with a written agreement, signed by all parties involved, stating the agreed to expectations for the lifelong welfare of the dog. The written agreement should preclude our breeding from being resold and require return to the breeder or breeder help/approval in re-homing of the dog in all cases.
• To thoroughly screen all prospective homes for puppies or adults and never to sell, give or donate a dog to commercial dog wholesalers, retail pet dealers, laboratories or testing facilities or directly or indirectly allow dogs to be given as a prize or donation in a competition of any kind.
• A Kennel Club registration certificate must accompany the dog they belong to and can't be sold alone.
• To only place dogs where there is a reasonable expectation of a happy and healthy life and will take the dog back or help with the re-homing of a dog if the initial circumstances change.
• To only conduct planned breedings using dogs and bitches with the intent to improve the breed according to the official standard for that breed.
• To comply with all AKC rules and regulations.
• To advise and assist newcomers so that they may be guided in ways that can best protect and perpetuate healthy and happy dogs of their breed.
• To attempt to educate the public in a spirit of kindness and courtesy about the unique qualities and needs of dogs and responsible dog ownership.
• To make every effort if abuse or neglect of a dog comes to our attention to seek to lawfully remedy the situation.
• To comply with all city, state, county and federal laws pertaining to dogs
• To practice good sportsmanship, good ring manners and courtesy to both judges and fellow exhibitors.
• To take responsible precautions to maintain hotels and show grounds in clean condition.
• To present our dogs in good health, mentally and physically fit for competition.
• Not to malign our competition by making false statements about them or their breeding.
• To comply with all AKC rules and regulations.
• Not to sell dogs without true representation to the purchaser, nor use misleading, false or untruthful statements in selling or advertising.
• Not to purchase dogs for the purpose of resale nor sell dogs to a person or firm known to purchase dogs for the purpose of resale.
• Not to release puppies from my care before they are eight weeks of age.
• That all advertising, oral or written, will be factual and not worded so as to attract undesirable buyers or to encourage the raising/breeding of dogs as an easy money scheme.
